There is an unwritten law of the universe: earrings get lost when you need them most.
Never at home, not even when you're doing a spring clean, not even when you decide to organize your jewelry box as if you had your life under control.
No.
They are lost just the day you feel a little more like yourself .
That Tuesday, which already promised to be a long one, I was wearing my favorite Sibela earrings, the Albo ones to be exact . Medium-sized, white, with that kind of shine that doesn't scream, but whispers that you're okay .
They were my amulet to survive meetings, traffic, unanswered messages and cold coffees.
Until, between the second traffic light and a phone call, I felt the emptiness: the right earring was no longer there.
And at that moment, something in me fell to the ground too.
For three whole blocks I searched for him like someone searching for a lost version of themselves.
Nothing.
Only the reflection of my frustrated face in the shop windows and an absurd question:
Can you lose your balance over something so small?
The answer is yes.
But you can also find something else instead.
Because when I stopped searching, when I just breathed, I realized I was still shining .
Not so much for the missing earring, but for the one that remained.
Because of the way I decided to keep walking without being completely complete.
That afternoon I came home, left the surviving earring in a velvet box—one of those I've kept since my first Sibela Studio jewelry—and made myself some tea.
And I thought that, perhaps, calm also has reflections.
That the jewelry we wear isn't always made of silver or gold, but of the moments we learn to let go without losing their shine.
Since then, when someone asks me if I found the earring, I smile.
Because yes, in a way I did .
I found it within me.
