Mother's Day (the real one)

El día de la madre (pero el de verdad)

Mother's Day always comes with flowers.
With pretty messages.
With well-chosen photos.

And that's fine.

But there's another part that's not always seen.

Being a mother is not just that moment we celebrate.

It's waking up before the alarm rings.
It's always having something on your mind that never rests.
It's responding without thinking.
It's knowing where everything is... even when no one else can find it.

There's a lot of talk about that woman who knows everything.
Who holds everything together.
Who solves everything.

And yes, it's true.

But no one talks about what's behind it.

There are easy days.

And others when everything feels heavier.

The uniform that can't be found.
The kitchen half-tidied.
The feeling of not being able to get everything done.

And even so, you keep going.

The other day, I noticed something.

While doing all that... I was wearing jewelry.

I didn't choose them that morning.
I didn't think about them.

They were just there.

A ring that arrived when everything was just beginning.
A wedding band that needs no explanation.
A pendant that marked a before and after.

Jewelry that isn't put away.
That isn't saved for special occasions.

They stay.

They're worn every day.
With haste. With tiredness. With real life.

And perhaps that's the difference.

There's jewelry given for a moment.
And there's jewelry that accompanies an entire stage of life.

The ones you don't take off.
The ones that are already part of you.

The ones that, without you realizing, tell your story.

That's why Mother's Day isn't just a day to give something pretty.

It's a day to recognize everything behind those pieces she always wears.

Everything they've seen.
Everything they've held.
Everything they mean.

It's not the photo.
It's not the bouquet.
It's not the day itself.

It's everything that remains.

And perhaps this year isn't about doing something perfect.

It's about looking at that woman—or at yourself—and understanding that she's doing better than she thinks.

That she already carries more history than she imagines.

And that some jewels don't shine brighter.

But they mean everything.

Happy Mother's Day.

The real one.

The one that's worn every day.
